Story

The History of Famous Pirates dates back over many hundreds of years. During the 1700' and 1800's Europe saw many seamen, who had served in merchant or naval ships, turning to the lucrative, but dangerous occupation of a pirate. During this time period most pirate captains worked independently form one another. During the late 1700's, pirate crews and the captains came together to form the Republic of Pirates on an unnamed island off the coast of the Americas.

The Pirate Republic was now governed by their laws, called Articles, which were agreed between the pirate crews and the captains - these articles also agreed how the prize money from their raids and captures would be shared out and how much tribute was to be paid to the Republic. The main goal of the Republic was to control the "Spanish Main", the coastal region of the Americas surrounding the Caribbean Sea and South America.

During the first year of the republic, Blackbeard has refused to pay tribute to the Republic. This has enraged the leadership of the Republic. William Kidd was quoted as saying, "This is a clear violation of the Articles agreed upon by Blackbeard himself". Captain William Kidd is now charged with finding and eliminating Blackbeard and his crew. This battle will either break or sustain the integrity of the Republic of Pirates.
